GP Services

At The ADHD Clinic, our GP services are designed to support individuals seeking a thorough mental health evaluation whilst screening for other conditions that may be causing or contributing to presenting symptoms.

GP Services Offered

Comprehensive mental health assessments which include a general medical assessment and focused physical examinations where appropriate.

Adult ADHD provisional diagnosis and management.

Referral to psychiatrists for formal Adult ADHD diagnosis, and applications for stimulant prescription permits (ADHD medication management) where clinically appropriate. For co-share medication arrangements the individual must be a permanent resident of Victoria.

Health evaluations.

 

(Services NOT offered: surgical procedures, pathology collection in the consulting room, immunisations. There is no availability of oxygen, emergency drug supply or resuscitation equipment.)

GP Availability

After-Hours Care

After Hours Care: Established patients will be provided with an email address with notifications activated so that Dr Wilcox can phone patients promptly if there are any urgent concerns. Please call 000 if immediate emergency care is needed, or consider attending a local emergency department.

Consultation Fees and Medicare Rebates

Dr Wilcox is a member of The Australian Medical Association (Victorian Branch) and uses the private fee schedule for GP consultations listed by the AMA.

Initial consultation: AMA Level C Consultation 20-40 min Cost $198.00 Medicare Rebate $82.90

Follow-up consultation: AMA Level B Consultation < 20min Cost: $108.00 Medicare Rebate $42.85

Prolonged consultation: AMA Level D Consultation 40-60 min $300.00 Medicare Rebate $122.15

 

Extended consultation >60min: AMA Level E Consultation >60 min $430 Medicare Rebate $197.90

Further Information

Dr Marcus Wilcox, is a General Practitioner (GP) with over 30 years of experience in general practice and working in emergency departments. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from The University of Adelaide 1990. He became a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) in 1998 and was awarded the Rural Generalist Fellowship by the RACGP in 2023, recognising his work in Rural and Remote Australia and his attainment of the Emergency Medicine Advanced Diploma from the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine. He continues to work locally in the Emergency Department of a private hospital. Much of his work in remote area medicine involved managing mental health emergencies, and in general practice setting he has extensive experience in managing a range of metal health conditions including depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder. Recently he gained an interest in adult ADHD and is developing his practice in this area. He is dedicated to offering patient-centred care, with a special focus on ADHD management.
